Kathmandu / October 18: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers at a special programme organised at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas Sunday.
President Yadav administered the oath of office and secrecy to the DPM and Ministers in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Top Bahadur Raymajhi took the oath of office and secrecy as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy. DPM Raymajhi has led the UCPN (Maoist) in the government.
Similarly, Giriraj Mani Pokharel as Minister for Education, Shakti Basnet as Minister for Home Affairs, Agni Sapkota as Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Ganesh Man Pun as Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Rekha Sharma as Minister for General Administration, Umesh Yadav as Minister for Irrigation, took the oath of office and secrecy.
Similarly, Ram Janam Chaudhary and Bishwendra Paswan also took the oath of office and secrecy as the Ministers without portfolio.
Present on the occasion were Acting Chief Justice Girish Chandra Lal, Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Ministers, political party leaders, parliamentarians and chief of security bodies and chief and representatives of diplomatic missions, among others. RSS
However, the CPN-UML Standing Committee meeting held at Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar in the Capital on Sunday failed to finalise the name of new Ministers from the UML to send in the government.
Krishna Gopal Shrestha, secretary of the UML Central Office, said that they would finalise the names of new Ministers from the party after the allocation of the Ministries to the other political parties joining the new government.
There is strong resistance within the CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist party for picking the ministers as most of the senior leaders wanted to be the minister. UCPN-Maoist earlier decided to send the ministers under the leadership party General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara but later gave the leadership to Top Bahadur Rayamajhi to settle the rift within the party. Most of the political parties are divided into various factions in Nepal and almost all leaders want to be the Minister.
In another event President Dr Yadav administered oath of office and secrecy to newly elected Speaker Onsari Gharti at a special programme organised at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas.
Present on the occasion were Vice-President Paramananda Jha, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Acting Chief Justice Girish Chandra Lal, Ministers, parliamentarians and chief of security bodies and chief and representatives of diplomatic missions, among others.
Gharti was elected to the post of Speaker on October 16. She was elected from Rolpa Constituency No 2 from the UCPN (Maoist). RSS
