Over 37 metric tonnes of garbage collected in Valley

Kathmandu / Dec 23: As much as 37 metric tonnes of garbage were collected from various major rivers and ring road areas under the Bagmati clean-up campaign in Kathmandu Valley on Saturday.

A notable participation of elderly people was also witnessed in the clean-up campaign today. A 102-year old Somnath Dhungana had also participated with a great zeal aiming to inspire others in the cleanup campaign.

Around 12 metric tonnes of solid waste were managed while cleaning the Bagmati River, as part of the Bagmati Clean-up campaign that entered its 241st week today.

Similarly, Minister for Sanitation and Drinking water Mahendra Yadav and Ambassador for the campaign Manisha Koirala among other social figures had participated in the campaign.

Likewise, around three metric tonnes of waste were extracted from Rudramati and Bishnumati area.

Meanwhile, the Ring Road Clean-up campaign that entered its 19th week today collected three metric tonnes of waste from the Syuchatar-Soltimode area.RSS
