Bhatta attempts for NRNA Vice Presidency for the second term

bhattaKathmandu / September 23: Vice President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Bhaban Bhatta has announced candidacy for another term.

“I have decided to file candidacy for vice president for the upcoming term,” Bhatta said issuing a press statement on Wednesday. “I expect that you will do justice considering my past and future commitments regarding the NRN campaign,” the statement reads. He has said that he has again filed candidacy to continue the works started in the current term, and added that he wants to remain vice president for another term also for institutional development of the NRNA.

NRNA President Shesh Ghale also already has announced candidacy for another term. Addressing a program organized by NRNA, UK in London last Thursday, he had said he wants to lead the NRNA for another term.

Welcoming the provision of awarding citizenship to NRNs in the new constitution, Bhatta further says, “The new constitution has embraced the spirit of ‘Once a Nepali, Always a Nepali.’ The new constitution will give continuity to citizenship of NRNs. This is a positive thing for us. I want to congratulate Nepalis scattered around the world on this biggest achievement of the NRN campaign of over a decade.”

He has also expressed confidence that the country will move forward in the path to development after promulgation of the new constitution. He also stressed on the need for government to be serious about post-earthquake reconstruction. Revealing that Nepalis living abroad are also excited on promulgation of the new constitution, he has added that economic growth should now be the common agenda of the whole Nepal.

The seventh NRN Global Conference to be held in October will elect the new working committee.
