Deputy Speaker Rana calls for Nepal’s effective representation in int’l forums

Kathmandu / May 20: Deputy Speaker Indira Rana today suggested the concerned authorities make Nepal’s representation in the international forums more effective.

Talking to media persons in Singha Durbar upon her return home from Parliamentarians’ Workshop on International Trade-2023 organized in Singapore from May 15 to 17, Deputy Speaker Magar suggested the government do thorough homework for Nepal to shine in the international forums.

Magar shared that she drew the attention of the participants in the event to the effects of climate change in the mountainous zone of Nepal, environmental conservation and carbon emission among other global challenges.

Nepal has been participating in such events since 2004.

Stating that it was important to educate youths from developing countries about their countries’ economies, she expressed her confidence that such events could serve as an important forum for experience exchange among the countries on common issues such as quality infrastructures, transparency and equality.

While participating in the event, she shared, she felt that the political instability and corruption were impeding the exposure and opportunities for the countries like Nepal which is believed to soon graduate from the Least Developed Country (LDC) to the developing one.

During the event, she said that she floated the prospects of export of Nepali tea and coffee grown in the alpine climate of Nepal. Magar viewed that optimization of innovative technology, and commercialization of agriculture would lead to job creation and an increase in revenue collection, thereby contributing to the overall development of the country.

Participating in the event held in Singapore along with Magar were parliamentarians Ambar Bahadur Raymajhi and Binod Chaudhary. (RSS)
