Nepal: a country needing improvement

Prarthana Baidya / Kathmandu: Nepal is a beautiful country. It has many heritage sites, natural beauty, tourist attractions, cultural sites and many more. But it also has a negative side that is slowly ruining everything.

First things first, the constant changes of the government makes it hard to focus on a project and complete it because when one government starts to focus on a project, before even finishing it the government will change so the project will change. That will result to unfinished projects for example the Narayanghat Mugling road project has not been completed for 9 years. It was started in 2015 June 25 but the work is not even done halfway.

Secondly, the governments till today have been run by over 70 years old leaders, for example Prime Minister KP Oli is 71 years old, former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba is 77 years old and Pushpa Kamal Dahal is 70 years old. Why always over 70 years old leaders should lead the country? Because all of the people who voted them have been voting for them till today so they are blamable for this as well. When old people take over the leadership, they tend to care more about the remaining time they have left than the improvement of the country. Also the promises made are mostly broken so it will result to people going on strikes and protests that injure and occasionally kill people like the protest that happened in Balkumari, Lalitpur was because the people were demanding to go to foreign employment. That protest caused death of a person and caused a person to get severely injured.

However, these problems can be resolved. Like the constant changes of the government can be stopped so that would allow a project to actually be done. And people can start voting for the younger youth because they would be more focused and finish the goal they set. They would be more aware about the improvement of the country like for instance mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan city Balen Shah is currently 33 years old and the works he has done is impressive. He has transformed Kathmandu for the better good by managing waste, demolished illegally built structures, and many more. Thanks to him the Bhatbhateni superstore Maharajgung has increased parking space by removing the food vendors so now there is more space. He also has finished many projects that no one else had finished.

Balen Shah is the perfect example that proves young youth can make Nepal a better place. Lastly the government can fulfill the promise made or not make the promises if they can’t fulfill it. The people if not content with the provided things can talk about it instead of showing violence and killing and injuring lives. These solutions can be used to change the problem and improve Nepal for the greater good.
