Shesh GhaleKathmandu / October 15: Shesh Ghale has been reelected the President of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). In the election held Thursday, Ghale secured 867 to beat his rival TB Karki who obtained 226 votes. Similarly, Bhawan Bhatta and Kumar Pant have been elected as vice presidents in the new NRNA executive committee with 538 and 513 votes, respectively.

Badri KC has garnered 555 votes to be elected in General Secretary while Arjun Kumar Shrestha was elected Secretary with 391 votes. Hikmat Bahadur Thapa was elected as the Treasurer after amassing 264 votes, told NRNA Spokesperson Man KC.

This is the first time in the history of NRNA that a person is leading the organization for the second consecutive term. Ghale’s opponents blamed him for being power monger and misusing the position with the influence of money, while Ghale maintained that he is leading the organization for the second time to complete some of the tasks started during his first tenure. Australia based businessman Ghale was listed in the billionaire list of the Australia.

Ghale is building a five-star hotel in Kathmandu. Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had laid foundation stone of the 17-storey five-star Sheraton Kathmandu Hotel in October last year.

The hotel is being built with investment of Rs 8 billion. The hotel, which is expected to come into operation in February 2018, is being built by MIT Group Holdings Nepal — a member of the Ghale Group of Companies which has diverse businesses in Australia and other countries.

Ghale is been appointed Nepal’s special envoy for reconstruction in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that floored down thousands of houses, infrastructures and heritage sites.

The NRNA has 71 national coordination councils and a single international coordination council. The Conference was attended by more than 1500 NRNA members including observers. The conference will end tomorrow by organizing formal program attended by President and Prime Minister. RSS
