Film South Asia 2015 kicks off

Film South AsiaKathmandu / November 19: Film South Asia 2015, an exhibition of non-fiction documentaries produced in the South Asian countries kicked off Thursday.

In the first day of the show, a 90-minute long documentary titled ‘Join the Tiger’ by Ramyata Limbu was screened. The documentary shed light on social discriminations suffered by a Dalit family in Ramechhap.

A total of 43 documentaries from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka will be screened at the exhibition, that also includes a competition. The film adjudged the best will bag 2,000 US dollars while the second and third will be awarded 1,000 US dollars each. The event is hosted by South Asia Trust.

Trust Chief and journalist Kanakmani Dixit expressed his hope that the event to run until November 22 would offer different taste to its viewers. Patandhoka-based Yalamaya Center and Kumari Cinema Hall and Russian Culture Center in Kamalpokhari are the venues for the documentaries. The entry fee is Rs 50 per person. RSS
