National unity and reconciliation equally relevant today

Flag of Nepali CongressPokhara / January 1: Various speakers underscored the importance and relevance of national unity and reconciliation in the country today as well.

They said this at an interaction programme organized by Nepali Congress, Lekhnath town committee, here on Thursday, to mark the 40th national unity and reconciliation day.

The participating speakers noted the need for major political forces to adopt the BP Koirala-propounded policy of national unity and reconciliation to drive the country to the pathway of prosperity keeping nationality and democracy at the centre stage.

At the programme, NC central member and former minister Mahesh Acharya said that several changes have been made possible in the country under NC leadership on the foundation of the policy of national unity and reconciliation put forth by BP Koirala.

Nepal got a new constitution on the base of national unity and reconciliation, he said, adding that the NC would play lead role for the implementation of the national charter.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC former general secretary and ex-Speaker Taranath Ranabhat suggested the NC to take proactive role to address the current crisis-hit situation of the country by adopting the principle of national unity and reconciliation.

NC Kaski President and lawmaker Yagya Bahadur Thapa said that BP Koirala had come up with the policy to connect the strength of nationality and democracy for the betterment of the country.
