PSC seeks role in permanent appointment; SC seeks document from Gurung

Kathmandu, Jan 12: The Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday made it clear that the government offices must consult it while making permanent appointments with pension facility.

Issuing a statement, PSC quoted Nepal’s Constitution’s Sub-Article (5) of Article 243 which states, ‘Permanent appointment will not take place in positions with facility of pension from Nepal Government without consultation with Public Service Commission’. The Commission has said the provision has given it an extensive jurisdiction, and that’s why its consultation is mandatory.

Permanent appointments on such positions in violation of the provision will be against the constitution, the PSC said, appealing to all the concerned bodies to be aware of this. RSS

In another incident, the Supreme Court on Tuesday demanded documents from Commissioner at Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Sabitri Gurung.

A division bench of Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justice Jagdish Sharma Poudel sought the files from Gurung.

The SC sought her files after she was accused of taking double facilities/incentives as she is an Associate Professor at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Tribhuvan University.

Advocate Ramesh Kafle had filed a writ petition at SC, arguing that taking benefits from two government offices by Associate Professor Gurung was against constitution.

After she was dragged into controversy, CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki, has kept her apart from duty. RSS
