Three killed in clash between demonstrators and police in Morang

Morang mapBiratnagar / January 21: Three demonstrators were killed in police firing in a clash that took place between the demonstrators and police in Rangeli and Dainiya of Morang.

In the incident that took place on Thursday afternoon, Dhurbadi Chaudhary,62, of Rangeli, Mahadev Rishidev,45, of Bardanga-2 and Shibu Majhi,25, of Dainiya-9 were killed, according to police. Majhi died in the clash that took place in Dainiya while Chaudhary and Rishidev died in Rangeli.

The clash with police took place after the demonstrators including Madhesi front cadres tried to foil the Tarai Dialogue and Awareness Campaign hosted by the UML-affiliated Youth Association of Nepal in Rangeli. Police used baton and fired dozens of tear gas shells to disperse the crowd and take the situation under control, but to no avail leading to the firing, police said.

The event organized by the YAN however took place amid tight security. RSS
