Langtang folks head to Kathmandu after biting cold

SnowfallRasuwa / January 26: As the normal life was severely affected from the chilling cold, the residents of Langtang area in Rasuwa district have headed to the capital city to escape the cold.

Most of the local residents of Mundu, Ghoda Tabela and Thangpas whose houses were destroyed from the Gorkha Earthquake have descended to the capital city to avoid cold as life under the tents and tarps was tough following the snowfall in the region, local Gyalbo Tamang said. It is learnt that the people would remain in the capital city for almost a month.

Tamang said that as high as 85 per cent people from the villages have gone to Kathmandu and very few people are in the villages for herding yaks and carry on their family business.

The reconstruction work for the quake-damaged properties in Langtang area is not started yet due to delay in appropriate design of the buildings though some NGOs have provided corrugated roofing sheeting to the quake-affected families. RSS
