Ministry to distribute ID card to poor citizens

Cooperative MinistryKathmandu / January 27: The Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation is to identify the poor citizens in different 25 district and provide them identity card.

The Ministry has intensified the task of identifying the poor citizens through household coordination board in the 25 districts. A social security programme will be launched after distributing the ID cards.

Among 1.2 million households on which a survey has been conducted, 356,000 have been categorized as poor. Among the poor, 12.5 percent are very poor, while 30 percent poor and 20 percent are facing risk.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry Baburam Bhushal informed that 15 ministries would be coordinated to implement the programme. RSS
