National football squad announced for SAG

ANFAKathmandu / January 31: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Sunday announced the national football squad for forthcoming South Asian Games (SAG) taking place in Guwahati of India.

The 20-member football team includes Captain Biraj Maharjan, Bikram Lama and Navayug Shrestha with three players below 23 years of age also making appearance.

Other players include Bikesh Kuthu, Elan Neupane, Amrit Chaudhary, Aditya Chaudhary, Ananta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Man Bahadur Tamang, Kamal Shrestha, Bishal Rai, Heman Gurung, Jagajeet Shrestha, Prakash Buthathoki, Ajan Bista, Bimal Gharti Magar, Ranjan Bista, Suman Lama and Sunil Bal.

Head coach Raju Kaji Shakya will spearhead the team with Mrigendra Mishra as goal keeping trainer and Birat Jung Shahi as the team manager.

Nepal has been pitted in Group ‘B’ which includes Bangladesh and Bhutan. Nepal’s first game will take place on February 7 against Bhutan and second against Bangladesh on February 11. RSS
