Kathmandu falls in love with the girl: Joss Stone

KathmanduKathmandu / February 19: The world fell for Joss Stone’s barefoot innocence and earthy soul voice back in 2003. Since her debut, she has come out with seven albums, and at the moment, the singer is busy trying to expand her soul territory. Stone and her band are on a mission to perform in every country and Nepal happens to be her 54th destination.

Organizer Sanjay Shrestha confirms that he was approached by Stone’s team, and with some help from House of Music, on Thursday, February 18, 2016, Hyatt Regency set up a concert for all her Nepali fans.

“The tickets were sold out before we knew it. This is a limited venue. We had about 500 tickets and no plans to overbook the hall. The fans seemed to be quick to understand this, and the response we got was tremendous,” says Shrestha.

The excitement was certainly palpable on the grounds of Hyatt Regency in Taragaon, Boudha on Thursday night. The event kicked off with dinner, but even while enjoying the delicacies, people couldn’t help discussing the hit maker. You could hear many people discussing their favorite Joss Stone songs, recommending her cover videos, and talking about her albums.

The incessant chatter continued till the doors were flung open to give the crowd what they were looking for: Joss Stone Live in Kathmandu. The first note of the song was enough to get the crowd pumped for the rest of the entire 90 minutes.

“For Nepali R&B fans like me, there aren’t many local acts to turn to for live shows so having Joss Stone here was a dream,” shared Roshna Dhital. “She can make you groove as well as weep. I would say this International live act was a successful show that the organizers can be proud of.”

And judging by the enthusiasm of the crowd as Stone crooned away, you could very easily sense that the feeling was unanimous. Source: Myrepublica
