Foreign tourists help with school build reconstruction

US flagMyagdi / March 5: American tourists have provided financial support for the renovation of two community school buildings that had been damaged in the April 25 Gorkha earthquake.

American Mary Long and her team members from the Global Empower Organization donated around Rs. 300,000 for renovating the class rooms of the Malika lower secondary school in Pakhapani and the hostel block of Gyan Prakash higher secondary school, according to Dam Bahadur Pun who coordinated the support. Pun runs a hotel at Ghodepani. The cheque was handed over to the school authorities on Friday.

Regular classes have been hampered since the class rooms of the Malika lower secondary school were damaged in the earthquake while students of Gyan Prakash were suffering due to lack of proper hostel facilities.

The Americans also donated Rs. 50,000 for the construction of a building of the mother’s group in Khiwang of Ghar VDC. RSS
