312 candidates vying for different posts in NC 13th Convention, 63 withdraw

NC conventionKathmandu / March 5: The Nepali Congress has published the final name list of candidates vying for different posts in the party new working committee to be elected by the ongoing 13th National Convention.

It may be noted that 375 people had filed their nominations for the key posts at the party and central members and 63 have withdrawn their nominations and finally 312 candidates are in the fray.

As per the final name list issued by the Convention Central Election Committee, 10 candidates are in the race for the three key posts- the president, general secretary and treasurer. Party incumbent acting President Ramchandra Poudel, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, and General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula are vying for the post of party president.

Likewise, Dr Shashank Koirala, Arjun Narsingh KC and Gagankumar Thapa have registered their nominations for the post of General Secretary while incumbent treasurer Chitra Lekha Yadav, Sitadevi Yadad, Umakant Chaudhary and Krishna Karki are competing for the post of treasurer.

The Election Committee has registered the nominations of 90 candidates for the 25 posts of central member. Likewise, 38 women are going to contest for six posts of central member under the reservation quotas.

Moreover, 13 from the Province No 1, five Province No 2, eighteen from Province No 3, nine from Province No 4, five from Province No 6 and seven from Province No 7 are fighting for two posts of central members from each province.

Forty candidates have filed their candidacies for three posts under the reservation quota for ethnic community, 12 for two posts for women from ethnic community, 20 for three posts for dalits, five for two Dalits women, nine for two posts for Madhesi women and six for one post for Muslim community.
