3,147 cast vote for NC leadership; vote counting starting shortly

NC conventionKathmandu / March 6: The voting begun at 8:45 am Sunday to elect the central leadership through the ongoing 13th National Convention of the Nepali Congress has concluded at about 10:00 pm.

In the election, 3,147 out of the total 3,161 voters cast votes for the election of the President, said secretary of the central election committee of NC, Jagannath Shrestha, to the National News Agency (RSS).

However, it was not ascertained how many votes were cast for the posts except the President, he added. Secretary Shrestha further said the count of votes cast for the President will begin after holding a meeting of the election committee.

Preparation is underway for taking the ballot boxes to the party central office.

Although the vote count was scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm, the voting time was extended for some hours.

As many as 311 persons are in fray for 61 central members including the office bearers. RSS
