World Women’s Conference from March 13

nepali womenKathmandu / March 11: The second World Women’s Conference is going to be organised in Kathmandu from March 13-18 under the slogan, ‘World women are climbing the highest mountain.’

Organising a press conference here today, the second world women’s conference main organising committee shared the information that discussion would be held regarding world’s women and women movement.

Conference Publicity Department Chief, Mina Pun, said that 700 representatives from 47 countries including Nepal, India and Venezuela would participate in the conference.

Different organisations including All Nepal Women’s Association, close to the CPN (UML), All Nepal Women’s Association close to the Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal, Nepal Women’s Association (Revolutionary) close to UCPN (Maoist), among others from Nepal would take part in the conference.

The conference will deliberate on nine different themes including socialism, capitalism, woman victimization, women’s uprising, feminism, women’s emancipation, women’s role in fight for independence, labour class struggle, women labourers’ role in Unions, girls, participation in politics and struggle for women’s freedom among others.

Parliament Speaker Onsari Gharti will inaugurate the conference to take place at the Nepal Academy. Different countries will organize separate cultural programmes every evening throughout the conference. The conference will conclude issuing a Kathmandu Declaration paper.

The conference will see participation of 350 representatives of seven communist political parties of Nepal and 350 foreigners. The first World Women’s Conference was held in 2011 in Venezuela. The meet is held every five years. RSS
