Rs 3.5 million collected from poem recitation for shelter home

Chitwan / March 14: A two-day poem recitation programme organised to fundraise for running a shelter home in Chitwan concluded last evening, collecting more than 3.5 million rupees.

Coordinator of Manab Sewa Ashram (shelter home), Ramji Adhikari, said that journalist cum poem Rabindra Mishra recited his pomes in the ‘philanthropic poem recitation programme’ on Saturday and Sunday in Chitwan. It is said that the money was raised from the tickets sale. Mishra, who is associated with the BBC Nepali Service, is involved in charity works for the public good through his activities.

During the events, poet Mishra recited most of his philanthropic poems aiming to fundraise for the social cause. Mishra’s ‘Ama’, ‘Papi’ and some other poems got huge applauds from the audience in the recitation programmes.

The shelter home is running rescue and rehabilitation programmes for the betterment of differently-abled persons, mentally retarded and others living in hardships. RSS
