Vaccination campaign against Japanese encephalitis from May 8

MosquitoKathmandu, March 14: The government is set to launch a vaccination campaign against Japanese encephalitis in 47 mountainous and hilly districts across the country from May 8.

Among major symptoms of the disease caused by the mosquito-borne Japanese encephalitis virus are severe rigors, fever, headache and malaise.

Chief at the vaccination section of the Child Health Division Mukunda Raj Gautam said that the campaign has been launched to control increasing risks of the disease in the districts.

The campaign was already in place in Kathmandu and Tarai districts.

Similarly, a vaccination drive against chickenpox and rubella will be launched from March 16 in high-hill districts like Humla, Jumla, Mugu, Dolpa, Manang, Mustang and Solukhumbu. RSS
