20 fake quake victims return relief amount

Laprak-gorkhaKathmandu / March 15: In what seems as a very unbelievable incident, twenty people, who described themselves as the April 25 earthquake victims, have returned the money entitled to genuine quake victims they received through illegal means.

Chief District Officer in Kathmandu Ram Krishna Subedi said that the fake quake victims at Kirtipur, Nagarjun, Tarkeshwor and Gokarneshor returned the total Rs 300,000 through illegal means.

Subedi said that the move follows complaints that fake quake victims are enjoying succours entitled to genuine quake victims. He added that investigation into such fake quake victims is going on.

Around Rs 1 billion has been distributed to quake survivors in Kathmandu so far, according to available data. RSS
