NC to pick new parliamentary party leader by April 4

NC Central Committee MeetingKathmandu / March 18: The first meeting of the Nepali Congress new leadership held Friday formed a three-member election committee to choose the party’s parliamentary leader.

The meeting of the party new central committee selected through the NC 13th General Convention that took place at the party’s central office Sanepa agreed to constitute the election committee headed by central member Ramesh Rijal. The committee comprises two central members Surendra Raj Pandey and Guru Raj Ghimire as members.

Besides, the meeting discussed about holding the elections of all its sister organisations including of Nepal Students Union ( NSU) within the next six months, according to party central member Dilendra Prasad Badu.

In the meeting, party new President Sher Bahadur Deuba presented an eight-point future action plan of the party, proposing to hold the elections of all party sister wings within the next six months.

The newly formed election committee is expected to set April 2 or 4 as the date for holding the election of party new parliamentary party leader. The party decided to make its efforts for the enforcement of the constitution in respective of its capacity as the largest party in the parliament and for sorting out the disputes over the fresh delineation of federal units in cooperation with other political parties.

The party has drawn the attention of the government towards the sluggishness of post-earthquake reconstruction works, lack of smooth supply of fuel, unwanted market price-hike and black market.

The meeting thanked all those party leaders, cadres and will wishers, the party central election committee, media and security personnel who supported in organising the National Convention successfully.

The meeting congratulated newly elected President of Myanmar, Htin Kyaw, wishing for his successful tenure ahead and extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers on the occasion of the upcoming Holi festival. RSS
