6th memorial day of GP Koirala observed; Deuba says no point in joining government

Girija-Prasad-Koirala-31Kathmandu, March 20: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said there was no point in joining the government for power sharing.

At a programme organised on the Sixth Memorial Day of former NC President late Girija Prasad Koirala, NC President Deuba said, “Collaboration and cooperation among us is imperative.”

Inaugurating the seminar organised by the ‘GP Study Centre’, on Sunday, he reminded that foreign delegates came at the inaugural session of the Nepali Congress National Convention lauded the collaboration among political parties in Nepal.

Lauding the role played by the late GP Koirala for the establishment of peace, declaration of republicanism and constitution writing, Deuba said that there would be no stable peace until political parties acted in unison.

He also pointed out the need of cooperation among all parties for the use of natural heritages, development of hydropower and tourism and creation of environment for investment in the industrial sector.

On the occasion, CPN (UML) General Secretary, Ishwor Pokharel, said that all parties should stand together for the successful implementation of new constitution as factor protesting the new constitution was still active.

He added it is minor who leads the national politics. “Girijababu was respected for his devotion to the establishment of peace at a time when the country was facing political problem,” he underscored.

Similarly, NC central committee members Bishwo Prakash Sharma, Pradeep Poudel and Dhanraj Gurung suggested building common understanding among all parties over relations between neighbouring countries. He could be learnt from the politics of late GP Koirala, they argued. RSS
