Nepal to organize first-ever South Asian women’s basketball

BasketballKathmandu / March 25: Nepal Basketball Association is going to organize first ever South Asian Women’s Basketball from March 29- April 2 in Kathmandu.

At a press conference organized by Association here on Friday, Association’s President Tendi Sherpa shared that players from five South Asian countries will participate in the match.

While Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sir Lanka and Maldives are going to take part in the competition, India and Pakistan will not be due to their own internal reason, added Association’s President Sherpa.

According to him, Women’s Basketball competitions were held at only Asian level. “It was a matter of pride that Nepal is going to organize it at South Asian level,” commented Sherpa.

Nepal’s National Basketball Team’s coach Bikash Shahi expressed his confidence over the excellent performance of Nepali players, stating that they were trained at various training centres in India and Thailand and have been under training back home.

Sadina Shrestha, captain of Nepali national team, said that her team aims to emerge a winner in the competition. RSS
