Incorporating climate change issues in local planning process stressed

Climate ChangeNepalgunj / March 30: It has been underlined that the issue of climate change adaptation be incorporated in the operational plan while formulating plans at local level.

It was insisted at a six-day training on ‘Climate change and community-based adaptation plan formulation’ organized by the Climate Change Adaptation Model Programme of the Ministry of Population and Environment in Nepalgunj on Tuesday.

The training participants stressed that all stakeholders should be sensitive to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.

The training programme is aimed to build public awareness, develop functional uniformity, put public advocacy efforts and prepare local resource persons on climate change, said Deepak Shrestha, trainer of Samuhik Abhiyan, a NGO working in the area of capacity development in climate change.

During the training, the participants will be taught on the basic concepts of climate change, its effects, efforts made so far for solution, monitoring and evaluation and on-site practice.

Some 28 participants from government offices, local bodies, journalists and local network are taking part in the training. RSS
