Chawara Chautara, Doti’s remote village illuminated

doti_districtDoti / June 1: All nine wards of Chawara Chautara, the remote village in Doti, have been illuminated with the completion of the 65-kilowatt Tundagad Micro Hydro Power Project.

Over 500 households of Umudi, Bitharigaun, Chanukanda, Sukati, Dachka, Khatyadi, Lakhuda, Bajeli and Sukatola have been benefitted from the project, according to local Khatyadi Higher Secondary School Management Committee Chair Dev Bahadur Bam.

Earlier, the Chawara Chautara folks had to depend on solar panels and oil-fed lamps for light. The project completed at the cost of Rs 30 million and came into operation last month.

Many rural areas of Nepal including Doti district does not have power supply. Many rural villages of the district are yet to be illuminated. RSS
