PCN Chair Karki stresses on development journalism

Borna-Bahadur-Karki_Press CouncilDhangadhi / June 3: Press Council Nepal Chairperson Borna Bahadur Karki has noted the need of development journalism.

Inaugurating the office of ‘Public Media Foundation’ here on Thursday, Karki said the development journalism has become the need of the hour when the country has taken the right political course.

Karki further said now is the time for media to empower citizens through dissemination of information on how the country’s development can be taken ahead.

He added that the Council has urged the concerned agency for resolving the problems being faced by media outside the Kathmandu Valley.

On the occasion, Chief District Officer of Kailali Abdul Kalam Khan shed light on the importance of journalism for the country’s development.

The Foundation, recently established at the initiative of journalists Pahal Saud and Haris BK, is launching television, FM radio, online news service and dialogue programme. RSS
