Electric power lights up villagers’ faces

ElectricityMyagdi /June 9: The electric power from the central transmission line has been extended to the remote Dhapung area of Barjunga – 9 of Myagdi.

The rural electrification project was carried out at an investment of Rs 3.5 million benefiting some 101 households in Dhapung and Maheshgaun.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and District Development Committee provided Rs 1 million each as VDC invested Rs 759,000 for the project. The rest of the amount totalling Rs 808,000 was collected from the consumers, Consumers’ Committee Chairman, Man Bahadur Chochangi said.

The locals of the hinterland had been using solar power and traditional lamps to fend off darkness.

The villagers are elated with the concomitant facilities the establishment of electric power has brought them. They can now live under electric bulbs, watch television, charge mobile and laptops and use computers, said local Prem Bahadur Chochangi. RSS
