NHRCKathmandu / June 9: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has expressed concern over the inconvenience caused to the people’s life by the Thursday’s nationwide shutdown held at the call of the UCPN (Maoist- Biplab faction).

People’s daily life was affected due to impact of the shutdown. Vehicles remained off the road, schools and factories were closed owing to the banda and students and working class people were affected the most by this, the NHRC said in a statement.

Calling for peaceful protests, the national human rights body urged the government and dissenting sides to seek a solution to problems through talks and negotiations. Moreover, the NHRC has drawn the attention of the government towards arranging for free
treatment to those hurt during the violent activities that took place during the banda. RSS
