Mansoon havoc across the country; Satpakoshi water level up; 22 sluice gates opened

According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, the water current in the river has been measured at 140,070 cusec at 6:15 pm on Tuesday.

Police shared that 22 sluice gates of Koshi barrage have been kept open at 6:00 pm. The water flow was 126,230 cusec on Tuesday afternoon.

Locals around the Sptakoshi barrage have turned fearful after abrupt rise in the water level of the Saptakoshi River.

Parts of Dhangadhi waterlogged

Several localities in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City have become waterlogged following the rainfall since this morning.

Water up to three feet high has accumulated at the Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 due to lack of proper drainage. As many as seven houses have been waterlogged at Bishalnagar of the town, stranding the families.

Many government offices including the District Development Committee, the District Livestock Service Office and the Nepal Telecom Office, among others have become waterlogged.

The rainfall, however, has brought cheer to the farmers and they are busy planting rice seedlings.

Over 100 houses inundated

Over 100 houses have been flooded in Bhadrapur of Jhapa following the incessant downpour since the last night.

Human settlements at wards no 5 and 7 have been waterlogged, the District Police Office Jhapa said. Police squads from the Office are at the waterlogged sites for the rescue of those got trapped in the flooding. Locals have blamed for a lack of proper drainage for the flooding.

Likewise, Raj Kumar Rai of Damak-1 who was swept away by a flooded Ratuwa River was rescued alive by the police with the help of locals. He is receiving treatment at Amda Hospital, Damak. RSS
