International community urged to invest in Nepal

government logoKathmandu / June 30: The government has appealed to the international community to confidently invest in Nepal, reasoning that atmosphere conducive for the investment was being built with the improving peace and security situation and flexible legal provisions.

In an interaction with foreign investors in Nepal Thursday at the Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry, the Department officials reiterated the government commitments to protecting and promoting foreign investment.

Department directors Bimal Prasad Baral and Bipin Rajbhandari presented working papers focusing on foreign-investment friendly policy of Nepal and legal provisions regarding the same.
The launching of Industrial Policy, Policy on Foreign Investment, Company Act and the formation of Investment Board will prove a milestone in drawing foreign investment in the country, they said.

Foreign investors attending the meeting said there was significant improvement in the investment atmosphere in Nepal of late. However, guarantee of investment is still awaited, they said, expressing their concerns over frequent strikes taking place in the country and existing energy crisis.

Investors from 15 countries including the US, China and Britain were present in the interaction, according to Department ‘s Section Officer Prem Raj Luintel. RSS
