NRCS brings Monsoon Preparedness Plan into force

RainfallKathmandu / July 5: Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) has, in cooperation with the government, brought the Monsoon Preparedness Plan-2073 BS into force.

The Society has directed all its district branches in all 75 districts across the country to implement the plan aims to tackle untoward incidents of water-induced disasters and minimise possible losses.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, monsoon in the country started from June 15 this year.

The death toll from the incidents of flood and landslides across the country since April is counted at 32 while 15 are still missing. The number of the injured is 48. Likewise, 104 houses have been completely destroyed and 157 houses have been damaged, according to the updates made available by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The plan has given a special priority to 10 districts considered vulnerable to natural disasters and 14 districts massively affected by last year’s earthquake, Society Executive Director Indra Bahadur KC said. RSS
