Nir and Ganga of Tribhuvan University clinch gold

TU_buildingKathmandu / July 13: Tribhuvan University’s Nir Bikram Devkota and Far Western University’s Ganga Bista clinched the gold medals in Badminton under the First Prime Minister Cup Inter – University National Games on Tuesday.

Nir won the medal in men’s and Ganga in women’s finals held at the International Sports Complex, Saatdobato.

Nir defeated TU’s fellow competitor Jivan Acharya 15 – 21, 21 – 15 and 21- 13 whereas Gaga defeated Soniya Gurung of Agriculture and Forestry University in straight sets 21 – 8 and 21 – 3.

Meanwhile, in men’s volleyball, TU defeated Kathmandu University (KU) in straight sets 25 – 18, 25 – 14 and 25 – 13 as well as Purbanchal University 25 – 12, 25 – 12 and 25 – 18 in the games played at the National Sports Council’s Covered Hall in Tripureshwor.

In Table Tennis, KU’s Sujan Pant and Deepika Shrestha have clichéd gold medals in the games held at the National Table Tennis Training Centre at Lainchaur.

Sujan defeated Purbanchal University’s Prabesh Neupane 3 – 1 in men’s final while in women’s final Deepika stunned KU’s Rejsha Koteja 3 – 0. RSS
