Speaker hopeful of bills endorsement on consensus
Kathmandu / July 13: Speaker Onsari Gharti has expressed her belief that the subsidiary bills relating to budget would be enacted based on a consensus among the political parties.
Speaker Gharti said this while talking to journalists Wednesday after adjournment of parliamentary meeting without entering into regular business as the political parties failed to expedite the process to endorse bills in the context of a no-confidence motion registered at the parliament.
She said that efforts are underway to forge consensus among the parties and the bills would be enacted on a political consensus. “All sides should stand together on national issues and common public concerns. I have urged the political parties to endorse the subsidiary bills within the timeline as the parties are also in mood to enact the bills on consensus”, the Speaker added.
Gharti shared that she had urged the political parties not to stop the budget enactment despite new government formation process considering its public importance.
She noted that the Parliament Operational Regulation is not clear towards endorsing the bill at a time when the no-confidence motion is registered against the government at the parliament. However, the tradition and consensus should be considered the base for sorting out the problem, she further said.
Seven parties in support of no-confidence motion
So far seven political parties have lent their support to the no-confidence motion registered at the parliament today against the Prime Minister.
Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (United), Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Sadbhavana Party, Federal Democratic National Front (Thaurhat) and Dalit Janajati Party are in support of no-confidence motion, Gharti informed.
Earlier, talking to media, NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi claimed that as many as 13 political parties would lend their support to the motion in the parliament. RSS
