NHRC urges Govt to implement agreement made with Pro Dr KC

dr_govindaKathmandu / July 15: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to bring into effect the past agreements it inked with Prof Dr Govinda KC.

Dr KC has been staging eighth round of the fast-unto-death since July 10, demanding reforms in the medical education sector in the country.

In a press statement issued by NHRC Spokesperson Mohana Ansari on Friday, the Commission has stated that the government should honour the right of the citizen to receive effective medical treatment and help save the life of the protester no matter the form of the protest.

NHRC has also corresponded to the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers for the arrangement of medical treatment for the agitating orthopedic surgeon.

Similarly, Nepal Medical Council has demanded with the government for the effective implementation of the agreements made with Dr KC.

Issuing a press statement here Friday, the Association expressed solidarity with Dr KC who is fighting against various anomalies and aberrations prevailing in the medical education sector.

The Association has however expressed its viewpoint that one of the demands of Dr KC – impeachment against Chief of Commission for Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA)- be reconsidered. RSS
