Problems of landless squatters will be resolved in two years: Minister Subba

Kathmandu / July 17: Minister for Land Reforms, Ram Kumar Subba, has said that problems of landless squatters would be resolved within two years.

At an interaction organised by the Kamaiya Women Awareness Society Nepal here Sunday, Minister Subba said that none of Nepalis would be disrespected in terms of land rights after two years. He said that the Ministry has already proposed the solution of landless squatters in its work plan.

The Land Reforms Minister said that the encroached government lands would be managed soon and the identity cards would be provided to woman Kamaiya.

Lawmakers—Sanjay Gautam, Devraj Bhar, Gopal Dahit and Ganga Chaudhary- stressed the need of resolving problems of freed Kamaiya and demanded guarantee of health service and education to them.

Similarly, National Women Commission member Mohana Ansari said that Nepal has not been still free from ‘slavery’.

Vice-Chairman of the Society of Freed Kamaiyas, Jagannath Dagaura, complained that 4,950 kamaiyas were still deprived of identity cards. RSS
