Revenue exceeds target in adverse situation: Finance Minister

Finance Minister PoudelKathmandu / July 19: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has taken it as an achievement that the government met the target on revenue collection despite adverse situation.

He shared that the government collected seven billion rupees as revenue in against the target of Rs 475 billion for the fiscal year of 2015/016 although the country’s economy witnessed tough times following the earthquake and the six-month long border blockade. “It’s an achievement that the adversity was dealt very well,” he said, adding that the revenue collection is the proof that goals can be achieved once the efforts are continuous.

Revenue collection last year was 19 percent more than the previous fiscal year. Out of the total amount, revenue collected with tax was Rs 422 billion while non-revenue generated Rs 60 billion.

The earthquake and the border blockade had badly obstructed the supply system in the major cities including the capital city.

On a different note, Minister Poudel said the government would accept the decision made by the Legislature-Parliament. RSS
