Works on to construct temporary embankment along Mahakali

Nepal FloodBhimduttangar / July 20: Works are going on to construct a temporary embankment onto the Mahakali River in Dodhara Chandani Municipality-4, following the high risk of river outburst in this monsoon.

The District Administration, Kanchanpur is, with the help of the security forces and locals, making all possible efforts to prevent any untoward incident. The river embankment started showing damage patterns since Tuesday afternoon, putting the nearby human settlements at risk of flooding.

The District Police Office Kanchanpur’s Chief Superintendent of Police Tulasi Prasad Adhikari said they are on high alert following the risk of river outburst and taking all possible measures to prevent any untoward incident. However, there is no need to be panic as the act of fencing the embankment is underway, he said.

Presently, water volume in the river is measured at 70,000 cusec. RSS
