KOICA provides grant assistance worth USD 2 million for the SZHCP

KOICA NepalKathmandu / July 20: The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has provided grant assistance worth USD 2 million for the Korea-WFP Saemaul Zero Hunger Communities Project (SZHCP) being run in Nepal by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

In a statement, WFP Nepal welcomed the assistance, saying that the grant amount would help continue the project aimed at eradicating poverty and food insecurity in far western region in Nepal.

The project has been launched in two VDCs of Doti district—Ladagada and Pokhari—since 2012 and livelihood status of the total 1,772 families have been improved since, said WFP Nepal office.

In a new phase, other over 5,000 families in need from additional five villages of Doti district—Manjari, Gaurigaun, Kadamandau, Khirsainanda and Sanagaun—would be included in the project, the statement said. RSS
