Rs 84 billion authorization for post-quake reconstruction

Nepal Reconstruction AuthorityKathmandu / July 23: The Ministry of Finance has authourised the National Reconstruction Authority Rs 84 billion for the post-earthquake reconstruction.

Out of this amount, Rs 12 billion 289 million 628 thousand would be mobilised from government resources and Rs 1 billion 833 million 500 thousand would be provided by JICA, Rs 11 billion by the European Union, Rs 500 million by China, Rs 1 billion 500 million by the Reconstruction Mutual Fund, Rs 12 billion 500 million by India, Rs 3 billion from Germany, Rs 850 million by Korea and Rs 980 million by the Asian Development Bank towards foreign support, NRA spokesman Ram Prasad Thapaliya informed.

“Rs 13 billion 258 million 777 thousand would be provided by IDA, Rs 9 billion 555 million 276 thousand by the Asian Development Bank, Rs 11 billion 665 million 358 thousand by JICA and Rs 5 billion by IMF towards loan and the government has allocated Rs 142 billion in the budget statement of the current fiscal year,” Thapaliya added.

He said the budget for the post-earthquake reconstruction would be released based on the policy decision made by the NRA’s executive committee on the basis of the entry of the activities mentioned in the PDNA and the five-year plan framework of the PDRF in the budget information system of the thematic ministries.
