Nepal set to play Asia Cup

Cricket groundKathmandu, Oct 15: Nepal has been selected to play the Asian Cricket Cup to be held in Thailand in coming November/December.

Nepal made it to the tournament after finishing as runners-up in the qualifying match held for the ICC Women’s World Cup. The Nepali national women’s cricket team finished second with 6 points, winning three of the six games it competed in Hong Kong.

Test-playing nations India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as well as host Thailand have automatically qualified for the tournament.

In the final match held today, Nepal defeated China by four wickets.

Earlier, Nepal had lost to host Hong Kong and Thailand in the first and second match while defeating China and Hong Kong in its third and fourth match. Nepal lost to Thailand again in its fifth match of the tournament.

By failing to finish first, Nepal also lost an opportunity to qualify for ICC Women’s World Cup. RSS
