UN assistance on Nepal’s development efforts lauded

U N LogoKathmandu / Oct 17: UN Under-Secretary-General and Secretary-General Ban-Ki moon’s Special Advisor on Innovative Financing for Development, Prof Dr Philippe Douste-Blazy, paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at latter’s office on Monday afternoon.

On the occasion, matters concerning Nepal-UN relations and the UN role on Nepal’s socio-economic development efforts were discussed, according to the Embassy of France in Kathmandu.

President Bhandari lauded consistent support of the United Nations for keeping peace in the world and Nepal’s efforts for socio-economic development.

Prof Blazy is in Nepal to garner support after France announced him as a candidate for future Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO). He had apprised President Bhandari of his candidacy to the post.

During the meet, French Ambassador to Nepal Yves Carmona and high-ranking officials of President’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and French Embassy based in Kathmandu were also present. RSS
