Victorious Nepali football team welcomed at Airport, rallied across the city

welcome-to-winning-teamKathmandu / Nov 16: The Nepali national football team that won the AFC Solidarity Cup football tournament in Malaysia returned home Wednesday to a rapturous welcome from football fans and sports authorities.

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport this late evening, the team members were received by member-secretary of National Sports Council Keshav Kumar Bista and high-ranking officials of the All Nepal Football Association.

From the airport, the victorious Nepali team members were rallied through the capital city up to the ANFA complex in Gwarko via Gaushala, Battisputali, Maitedevi, Putalisadak, Ghantaghar, Martyrs Gate, New Road, Durbarmarg, Tripureswar, Thapathali, Kupandole, Pulchowk and Mangalbazaar.

Nepal had defeated Macau in the final by 1-0 on Tuesday to win the maiden edition of the Solidarity Cup organised by the Asian Football Confederation, and involving lowly ranked nations in the FIFA world ranking.

It may be noted that the Government has already announced a bonus of Rs. 300,000 each to the members of the victorious team. RSS
