PM felicitate winning football team; says Dasarath stadium to be renovated soon

footballKathmandu / Nov 17: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the reconstruction of the Dasarath stadium, damaged in the earthquake, has already begun and would be completed soon.

Felicitating the members of the Nepali national football team, which won the AFC Solidarity Cup football tournament held in Malaysia on Tuesday, at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, Prime Minister Dahal said the government was working to develop a special plan for the development of the sports sector including football.

Thanking the members and coach of the team, Dahal said the win had boosted the morale and enhanced the image of Nepal and the Nepalis.

On the occasion, Officiating Chair of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Mani Kunwar drew the attention of the Prime Minister towards the need of renovating the Dasarath stadium, the only stadium in the country.

The Government has already announced a cash prize of Rs. 300,000 each to the members of the victorious Nepali football team. Nepal had defeated Macau in the final by 1-0 to win the maiden edition of the tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation. RSS
