Child marriage rate down in south Rolpa

Rolpa, Nov 22: The rate of child marriage in south Rolpa has been found decreasing. A study report carried out recently by the Human Rights Awareness Centre, Rolpa, shows this.

The study was carried out in Ghartigaun, Talabang, Korchbang, Gairigaun, Jaulipokhari, Jedbang and Kerati VDCs in the district.

Now, the child marriage rate is 46 per cent in 2016 against 48 per cent in 2014, said Executive Director at the Centre, Raju Acharya.

Programme Coordinator of the Centre, Kumar Pokharel, said that the child marriage rate has decreased due to effect of awareness programme, door to door campaign, public hearing and livelihood improvement programmes organised in the villages. RSS
