Protection of Tharu Badghar system stressed

Bardiya / Dec 1: Various stakeholders underscored the need of preserving Badghar system – longhouses with big families of many generations – which has been in practice among Tharu community people since 5000 years back.

They said this at an interaction programme organized by the Kamaiya Mahila Jagaran Samaj at Guleriya of Bardiya on Wednesday on “Role, Potential and Challenges of the Tharu Community Organizations in the local Sustainable Development”.

They came up with voice to give premium to the identity of Tharu Badghar while restructuring the state, said District Badghar Federation Chairperson Ram Shahi Chaudhary.

Samaj Chairperson Krishni Tharu said the interaction was organized to bring together various stakeholders to discuss the indigenous practices of Tharu community in serving the sustainable development agenda. RSS
