U-19 Asia Cup Cricket: Nepal defeats Malaysia by one wicket

Kathmandu / Dec 18: Nepal has defeated Malaysia by one wicket in the match held today under the U-19 Asia Cup Cricket tournament in Sri Lanka.

Put into bat in the match held in Colombo, Malaysia had put up a victory target of 153 runs for Nepal loosing all its wickets in 44.4 overs. Birandip Singh top-scored with 75 runs for Malaysia.

For Nepal, Adil Khan took three wickets while captain Sandip Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Aiyer took two wickets apiece.

In reply, Nepal had lost 6 wickets with 93 runs in 22 overs, requiring another 61 runs in 28 overs remaining, with only 4 wickets at hand. However, Anil Shah (32) and Pawan Sarraf (29) partnership of 38 runs took Nepal close to the victory target, and made a win possible with 32 balls remaining.

This is the first win for Nepal, following two consecutive losses against hosts Sri Lanka and India. RSS
