Returnee enterprising migrants to be honoured
Kathmandu / Feb 7: The government has announced prize and honours to the returnee migrant workers who exhibit outstanding enterprising business at home.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has declared to provide Rs 100,000 to the best entrepreneur who applies skills and invests the money earned abroad. Likewise, six other best entrepreneurs would be provided with Rs 50,000 each.
The Ministry has also asked the returnee migrant workers turned entrepreneurs to lodge an application within 30 days at Employment Coordination and Training Section of the Ministry.
The Ministry has formed a recommendation committee to pick the best entrepreneur under the leadership of Chief of Employment Coordination and Labour Relations Ava Shrestha Karna. The committee will comprise the Director General of Department of Foreign Employment, representative from the Department of Small and Cottage Industry, representative from the FNCCI and under secretary (Law) from the ministry.
Karna said that the government made such call to encourage the returnee migrants to utilize the knowledge, skills, experience and capital earned abroad. “This will give dual message to the aspirant migrant workers as well as to the returnees to do something at home,” Karna added.
She hoped that the move would help end the practice of buying land plots from the money earned abroad and promote entrepreneurship. RSS
