Rs 68 million released to purchase free-distributed medicines; Government to spend Rs 960 million to purchase medical equipment

Health MinistryDadeldhura / Feb 9: The Ministry of Health has released Rs 68.7 million to various hospitals in nine districts in the Far West Region to purchase medicines to be distributed by the government free of cost.

The hospitals that are entitled to the amount include Far Western Regional Health Directorate, District Public Health Offices and other various four hospitals.

The budget has been released in two phases in the Nepali month of Bhadra and Poush to purchase necessary medicines and beneficiary health institutions have been directed to make available the medicines at the earliest, said concerned DPHO.

Of the beneficiaries, as much as Rs 7 million has been released to the Directorate. Likewise, Rs 1.5 million has been allocated each to Jogbudha Hospital in Dadeldhura, Malekheti Hospital in Kailali and Gokuleshwor Hospital in Darchula.

Similarly, DPHOs in Kailali, Baitadi, Kanchanpur, Achham, Doti, Bajhang, Dadeldhura, Bajura, Darchula are entitled to Rs 6.7 million, Rs 6 million, Rs 5.7 million, Rs 5.6 million, Rs 5.4 million, Rs 5.2 million, Rs 4.5 million, Rs 4.8 million and Rs 4.8 million, respectively. RSS

Government to spend Rs 960 million to purchase medical equipment

The Ministry of Health has said all the primary health centers across the country would be provided necessary medical equipment by the next four months.

According to Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, the government has, as part of its commitments for the strengthening of health institutions, managed the budget of Rs 960 million to purchase medical instruments necessary for health centres across the country.

Directives have already been issued to authorities concerned to take stock of physical infrastructure of 201 primary health centers across the country, availability of health professionals and instruments there and submitted reports to the Ministry so that it could determine the quantity of equipment necessary for them.
