Syangja to be developed orange zone

OrangesSyangja / Feb 12: Good news for orange growers! Syangja will be developed as orange zone.

The move is as part of the implementation of the 10 years Prime Minister Agriculture Modernisation Project envisioned in the fiscal budget 2016-17 to improve agricultural productivity in the country.

As part of the project, there will be work to add quality to orange production, start grading system, make arrangement for packaging and storing and launch interaction and training to make farmers more professional, said Chief of Project’s Syangja branch Binod Hamal.

“Syangja has a great potentiality for orange production and the produce here tastes sweet,” he said.

The project will be run in VDCs like Putalibazaar, Aeladi, Arjun Chaupari and Thuladihi and Bhirkot municipality in the first phase, he said, adding that the remaining areas will avail of it in the second phase.

The move has been taken forward in line with an agreement struck between the governments of Nepal and China in 2070 B.S. to export orange and sweet lime produced in Syangja and Sindhuli respectively, Hamal said. RSS
